It is primarily used for people with respiratory and heart diseases, as well as in cases of hypoxia, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, cardiorespiratory failure, or COVID-19.

How Do Oxygen Concentrators Help?

Oxygen concentrators are medical devices essential for effective oxygen therapy. They draw in ambient air, filter out nitrogen, and deliver oxygen at a high concentration to the patient. Thanks to their mobility and ease of use, they are ideal for home therapy—providing continuous access to oxygen without the need for gas cylinders.

Oxygen Therapy and Cluster Headaches

One of the effective ways to relieve cluster headaches is high-flow oxygen therapy—typically 10–12 liters per minute administered through a non-rebreather mask. Studies confirm that rapid administration of pure oxygen can significantly shorten the duration of headache attacks. Can Healthy People Use Oxygen Therapy?

Yes, but only occasionally and in moderation. Short oxygen sessions (15–30 minutes) can be used, for example, after intense physical effort, air travel, or as part of biological regeneration. Excess oxygen—especially when used long-term—can be harmful, so regular oxygen therapy without medical indications and consultation with a doctor is not recommended.

Contraindications for Oxygen Therapy

Although oxygen therapy is generally safe, it is not always indicated. Contraindications may include certain forms of chronic hypercapnia (elevated CO₂ levels in the blood), especially in patients with advanced COPD. Oxygen should be administered according to a physician’s recommendation, and therapy should be monitored with respect to respiratory parameters.
