Cluster headaches are one of the most intense and painful types of headaches, often described as “suicide headaches.” They are characterized by sudden, severe, one-sided pain attacks usually located around the eye or temple, often accompanied by tearing, eye redness, drooping eyelid, and nasal congestion on the same side.
Intense, stabbing, or burning pain on one side of the head
Attacks lasting from 15 minutes up to 3 hours
Several attacks per day (sometimes 8 or more)
Occurrence in “clusters” – series of attacks over weeks or months followed by remission periods
Cluster headaches mainly affect men aged 20–50, but can occur in both sexes. The cause is not fully understood, but the hypothalamus — a part of the brain responsible for, among other things, the circadian rhythm — is believed to play a key role.
One of the most effective ways to quickly stop an attack is to administer oxygen at a flow rate of at least 10–12 liters per minute through a non-rebreather mask for about 15–20 minutes. Oxygen acts quickly and safely, and its effectiveness has been confirmed in numerous clinical studies.
In our offer, we have oxygen concentrators capable of delivering oxygen at 10 L/min — suitable for cluster headache therapy both at home and in outpatient settings.
